The Future of Genomics: Workshops That Imagine 2050

In a series of forward-looking workshops hosted by the Sanger Institute, experts from across disciplines gathered to chart bold new directions for genomics and life sciences.

I facilitated two lively, two-day workshops that combined rigorous exploration with a collaborative and enjoyable atmosphere, each focused on themes shaping the next quarter-century of biological research. I also ran a half-day session for Sanger staff, sparking conversations about the future of genomic research within the institute and exploring emerging opportunities and challenges.

These sessions encouraged thoughtful discussion and fostered connections across disciplines. The insights and ideas generated contribute to ongoing conversations about the future of genomics and its potential to influence research and health outcomes in the decades ahead.

Leadership Alignment Workshop

Wellcome Sanger Institute

I facilitated a leadership workshop day for the strategy team at the Sanger Institute, designed to help senior leaders with diverse responsibilities come together around a common purpose. The main focus was developing a unifying mission to guide the team’s work and collaboration.

Through a blend of discussion, alignment exploration exercises, and action planning, we explored how the group could support each other, their teams, and the wider organisation more effectively. The day concluded with clear agreements on collaborative ways forward and practical steps to turn their new charter into meaningful action.

Navigating Complexity and Conflicting Demands

Supporting a Senior Professional

In a highly pressured and complex situation, I worked closely with a senior professional facing a relentless influx of work and competing priorities. Through a combination of coaching and process streamlining, we collaboratively untangled conflicting demands and clarified what was realistically achievable. Using structured prioritisation frameworks and reflective coaching conversations, we identified key focus areas, simplified workflows, and developed practical strategies to manage workload sustainably.

This support enabled the client to regain clarity, reduce overwhelm, and make confident decisions under pressure.
